Mehlville hires two new administrators

Michael Wegener and Sadie LewisWe are pleased to announce that Michael Wegener will be an Assistant Principal at Oakville High School and Sadie Lewis will be the Director of Personalized Learning and Instructional Design for Mehlville School District beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.
 
The Mehlville School District Board of Education unanimously voted to approve their hiring at the May 21, 2020 meeting. Several highly qualified candidates applied for both positions.

Michael Wegener - Oakville High School Assistant Principal 
“Michael has been an integral member of our school community as a member of our performing arts program,” said Tamara Sunkett, principal at Oakville High School. “Michael is extremely bright and thoughtful and has a clear love for our students.  I am 
extremely excited for him to join our administrative team."
 
Wegener has taught music for the past 10 years. He is currently the director of choirs at Oakville High School. He has also taught at Olive Branch High School at DeSoto County Schools. Wegener earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Mississippi. He also earned an Education Specialist in School Administration from Lindenwood University.
 
“For the past 10 years, my efforts have gone into building, sustaining, and goal-setting for choral programs, six of those at OHS,” Wegener said. “I’m excited to bring that energy to the building level. I cannot wait to begin working with our current administration team to provide an amazing community and learning experience for our students and staff.”
 
Wegener will begin serving in this new role on July 1, 2020. He replaces Casey Olearnick who accepted a new role at a school district closer to home.

Sadie Lewis - Mehlville School District Director of Personalized Learning and Instructional Design
“Sadie is a consummate professional and is well-respected by administrators and teachers throughout the district,” said Dr. Brian Smith, Assistant Superintendent, Teaching and Learning. “She has been instrumental in providing professional development and support for the personalized learning movement in Mehlville and has assisted staff in becoming comfortable with technology as well as how to better design their instruction to make it most engaging and relevant to students.”
 
Lewis is currently the Instructional Design Coordinator for Mehlville School District. She has served in that role for four years. Previously she was a technology literacy instructor at Bernard Middle School. She has also served as an Instructional Innovation Specialist. Lewis is a certified innovator and trainer for Google for Education. She’s also a national faculty member for Partner PBL Works (formerly Buck Institute for Education). Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Missouri - Columbia, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lindenwood University.
 
“I am proud to have grown through the Mehlville School District, and am invested in the vision of this district,” Lewis said. “We are faced with amazing opportunities in Mehlville, and I am so excited to continue to be a part of the work being done in our district.”
 
Lewis will begin serving in this new role on July 1, 2020.
