Portrait of a Graduate Speaker Series: Persistence During the Pandemic

Dr. Bryan PearlmanMehlville School District is hosting its second Portrait of a Graduate Speaker Series in November. The event, titled “Persistence During the Pandemic,” features Dr. Bryan Pearlman, educator and mental health therapist, and a panel of mental health experts. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend the free event at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Oakville Middle School, 5950 Telegraph Road.
 
The Speaker Series is designed to engage parents in topics related to the traits identified in our Portrait of a Graduate: Creative and Critical Thinker, Self-Aware, Persistent, Communicator and Ethical & Global Citizen. This event will focus on the traits of persistence and self-awareness. 
 
Dr. Pearlman will present from 7 to 7:45 p.m. on approaches parents can use themselves or with their children to reduce anxiety and challenge negative thoughts. He will also share self-care techniques to help families move forward with better mental health.
 
A panel discussion including Dr. Pearlman and other education and mental health experts will follow. 
 
About Dr. Pearlman
Dr. Bryan Pearlman is a veteran educator/school administrator, a mental health therapist, keynote speaker and adjunct professor. He is the author of two books: Maslow Before Bloom: Basic Human Needs Before Academics and Whatever It Takes For All Students To Succeed In School and Life. Dr. Pearlman is the co-founder and board member of the mental health non-profit DSMHW.org. His expertise is helping all children to succeed, challenging behaviors, trauma, school improvement, mental health, and self-care. Dr. Pearlman has presented to over 40,000 people in the past two years.
