Back-to-School GuideOur staff is excited to welcome your child to school on Monday, Aug. 22! We've put together a Back-to-School Guide to help you get ready for the first day. It includes information about meals, bus routes, updating your family's information and more!

Registration/Family Information Update
It is important that any new students are registered as soon as possible to give staff time to assign their courses and procure Chromebooks and other supplies prior to the start of school. Registration instructions for new families and existing families with new students can be found on the enrollment section of our website.

All returning families must complete the Family Information Update. The Family Information Update gives you the opportunity to review and update your phone numbers, email addresses and other critical information. You will be asked to review our annual notifications, media release, medical records and technology policies. You can begin the process by logging in to Parent Portal

Calendars and events
View and print the 2022-2023 school calendar to see important dates for this school year including holidays, half days and more!

You can view school-specific events using our Google Calendars. You can filter schools by selecting the dropdown next to “Agenda” and deselecting any schools you don’t want to see.

Back-to-school events
Schools are hosting dozens of events leading up to the first day of school including meet the teacher and principal nights, playground playdates and curriculum nights. Look for communication from your child’s principal or visit your school's website for the dates/times of these events.OES back-to-school eventImage: Oakville Elementary School principal talks to students at a Popsicles with the Principal event before the 2021-2022 school year.

Supplies

Supply lists for Mehlville School District students will be communicated by your child’s school and posted on your child’s school website. If your child is a returning student, they should bring their Chromebook with them to school on the first day. New students will be assigned a Chromebook on the first day of school.

Obtain your child’s immunizations
Please contact your family medical doctor, urgent care or the public health department to get your student's immunizations prior to the start of the fall semester.

St. Louis County Department of Public Health provides free immunizations to students. Department clinics have extended hours through Sept. 17 to help students get caught up on required immunizations. Learn more about these clinics.

Transportation
Bus routes for the 2022-2023 school year will be available on the transportation section of our website soon. We also allow parents to drop-off their students at school. Your child’s principal will communicate procedures for parent drop-off.

Please note: Arrival and dismissal procedures at your child’s school may have changed since last school year due to construction at your child’s campus. Look for communication from your child’s principal in Mid-August about these changes.

Meals
Mehlville School District offers breakfast and lunch for students each day. For the past two years, our School Food and Nutrition Services staff has been able to provide free meals to all students through a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That waiver expired at the conclusion of last school year.

Meal prices for this school year are as follows:

Breakfast
Paid: $2.00
Reduced Price: $.30

Lunch
Elementary Paid: $2.90
Secondary Paid: $3.00
Reduced Price: $0.40

Mehlville School District participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, which allows families to apply for free and reduced meal benefits. The USDA has the following family-size income criteria for this school year:
Free and reduced lunch requirements
Breakfast and lunch menus can be found on the School Food and Nutrition Services section of the website.

You can add money to your child’s meals account through MySchoolBucks.

Bell times/Alternate schedules
Mehlville School District operates on a tiered schedule for school start and end times. You can find bell times for regular days, as well as for half/early release days here.

Mehlville School District was approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to use virtual instruction for up to five snow days each year. If a winter weather event causes road conditions to be unsafe, we will operate on a virtual schedule, and students will meet with teachers on Google Meet. Your child’s school/teacher will communicate expectations for virtual learning days.

If another snow day is needed after utilizing our five virtual learning days, we will use traditional snow days. Traditional snow days need to be made up following Memorial Day.

On both virtual learning days and traditional snow days, all after-school and evening activities and events are canceled unless otherwise communicated. This includes Y Club, community enrichment programs and facility rentals.

Parents will be notified of virtual learning days and snow days via text, phone call and email through ParentSquare. Additionally, high school students will receive an email via ParentSquare. This information will also be announced on the district Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, via our district website, mehlvilleschooldistrict.com, and through local television stations and other media partners.

Keeping in touch
The Mehlville School District staff communicates with families through the communication platform ParentSquare. ParentSquare is a simple and collaborative school-home communication platform designed to reach and engage every parent. Parents can choose the communication type and frequency they prefer. Families can also set the language they wish to receive communication in.

Parents who have not previously registered for ParentSquare should have received a text message and email with a link to register. If you didn’t receive a message or your link has expired, please contact your child’s school. New families who attended Mehlville Summer Session are already registered for ParentSquare and do not need to re-register.
