Enroll in Mehlville Virtual Summer Session for July

Middle School Summer Session Zoom MeetingThroughout June, students have been learning virtually in Mehlville Summer Session. Summer Session is also offered July 6-31, and the deadline to enroll for July is Monday, June 29.

Summer Session became a virtual format this year to ensure the safety of our students and staff while offering flexibility for our students. Students begin each day by logging in to a Google Meet with their teacher.

“We review expectations, do a mini-lesson of the standard we are concentrating on for the day and preview the items that are on their daily menu,” said Julie Mataya, an elementary school Summer Session teacher.

Daily menus provide a list of learning activities students can complete. Students can pick and choose which activities to complete each day from their menu.

Students are then released to work on activities on their own. The teacher remains on the Google Meet throughout class time so students can re-enter if they have any questions. Students return to the Google Meet at the end of each class to check in with their teacher and review the assignment.

“A lot of the classes do a great job of getting the kids up and moving away from their computers so that they’re not staring at screens all day,” said Nicole Spruell, a middle school Summer Session teacher.

Virtual Summer Session is free for students currently in kindergarten through 11th grade. View the Mehlville Summer Session page for more information or to enroll.

Information for incoming kindergarten students

Incoming kindergarten students were unable to be included in our Summer Session due to the virtual format. Kindergarten teachers from across the district have been recording videos containing information about how you can support your child in learning skills like reading, writing, counting and more from home.
