Board approves hiring of Point Elementary principal

We are pleased to announce that the Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Debbie Reid as principal of Point Elementary School at its July 14, 2022 meeting.

Dr. Reid is committed to ensuring that all students learn to their maximum potential and to fostering innovation through collaboration with teachers, staff, students and families," said Dr. Jeff Bresler, Assistant Superintendent - Supervision of Schools. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as an instructional leader. She will do an excellent job building strong relationships and continuing to lead the Point community on their path of academic excellence."

Debbie ReidDr. Reid currently serves as the assistant principal of an elementary school in the Parkway School District, where she has worked since 2015. Dr. Reid also previously worked as a school counselor in the Affton School District, as well as a school counselor and physical education and health teacher in the Bayless School District.

This is a homecoming for Dr. Reid, who graduated from Mehlville High School in 1998. After graduation, she majored in physical education at Central Missouri State University before receiving a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Lindenwood University. She has since received a master's degree in school administration from Southwest Missouri Baptist University and a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Higher Education from Saint Louis University.

"I am excited to begin this new journey at Point Elementary and to get to know the staff, students and parents," said Dr. Reid. "I'm a champion for students and passionate about developing the whole child. I am grateful to be part of the community that is also raising and educating my own children."

Dr. Reid will immediately begin serving in the role for the 2022-2023 school year. She replaced Dr. Shannon Pike, who was hired as the district's Executive Director of Human Resources.
