Bosnian for Kids

Our strings program is an introduction for students in grades 3-5 to the family of string instruments. We offer both beginner and advanced lessons at Point, Rogers and Wohlwend elementary schools. During the first year of instruction, all students will play the violin. Students will have the opportunity to switch to the viola, cello or bass during the second year of instruction.

The cost for the program is $110, however, students are responsible for their own instruments. If your family chooses to rent a violin through Nottelmann Music Company (314-631-1486 phone), a separate rental fee will apply with Nottelmann directly. Registration is open now.

Students are asked to attend one of two Informational Meetings on September 12 (OHS Library) or September 13 (MHS Library); both at 7 p.m. Students who do not attend the informational meeting will need to be measured for their instrument at Nottelmann Music Company. If instruments are rented through Nottelmann, they will be delivered directly to the schools and students will receive their violins on the first day of class.

Students will perform in two concerts a year; one at the end of each session.

Gaga Ball Club | Grades 6-8

Gaga ball is a form of dodgeball where kids will dodge, strike, run and jump in a pit with the objective of being the last person standing. During gaga ball, players hit the ball at each other with their hands and are eliminated if the ball strikes them on/below the knee.

Hapkido Korean-Style Karate | Ages 6-106

Teachers Mr. Kenny and Dr. Franzi of the Hoshin Sol Academy will guide martial arts students through "the art of coordinated movement" otherwise known as Hapkido. Students will learn self-discipline, character, maturity and respect for others, while learning counter-offensive and self-defense applications.

Children ages 6-12 will meet at 6:30 p.m. (Families may practice together.)
Students ages 13 through adult will meet at 7:30 p.m.

Hapkido classes will be offered Sept. 6-Dec. 20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Oakville High School. Choose one night a week or both! See registration website for specific dates, times and requirements.

Jewelry Creations | Grades K-5 and Grade 6-8

Students learn all about jewelry-making and design with techniques such as shrink art, crimping, beadwork, wire-wrapping, clay and metal-stamping! Mrs. Lyons shows students how to find inspiration in nature, our universe, pop culture and the world around us. Each week, our young artists will bring home a unique piece to keep or gift to friends and family.

Kickball Club | Grades 3-5

Who is ready to play kickball? With help from a Recreation Academy instructor, kids will learn how to play the game, engage in teamwork, gain social skills and burn off some energy! Each week brings something different with variations like "California Kickball", "Home Run Derby" and more.

Little Medical School | Pre-K and Grades K-5

Little Medical School classes bring science, healthcare and the exciting world of medicine to children in a creative, fun and interactive way. Little Veterinary School explores the health, diet and proper care of dogs, cats or horses. Little Doctor School teaches kids about the key responsibilities of a doctor, how the body and organs work, and introduces kids to real medical instruments.

Percussion Classes | Grades 3-12

"Coop" Cooper will teach three percussion classes this fall at Washington Middle School.

Teen/Adult Beginner and Intermediate Band

Autumn Concert Performance: Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

Beginner Band | 5-5:45 p.m.
This class is for students with little-to-no musical experience. You will learn how to play a new instrument. Students must provide their own instrument and text. 

Intermediate Band | 6-6:45 p.m.
This class is for students with some musical experience who would like the structure of practicing weekly with a group of musicians at a similar level. Students must provide their own instrument and texts.

On November 18, the Teen/Adult Beginner and Intermediate Bands will perform in the Autumn Concert at Nottelmann Auditorium at 7 p.m. Students are responsible to rent or purchase an instrument.

Bosnian Language Classes

This class is for individuals interested in learning the Bosnian language and culture of the region. No previous knowledge is required. This course is ideal for educators, law enforcement personnel, health professionals, business owners, realtors and neighbors in our community! Registration is open now.Register here.

Driver's Education | Ages 15+ | $325/session

There are several sessions of Driver's Education throughout the year. Fall sessions meet for three (3) weeks, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30-6:00 p.m. Some after-class driving will be required; instructors will provide students with a schedule after the session begins. Please note that transportation to and from class is not provided by the district. All classes will take place on the Mehlville High School campus in the Witzel Learning Center (through Door 5). 

Driver's Education through the Mehlville School District adheres to the requirements set forth by the State of Missouri including: classroom time, 12 hours of simulated driving, 12 hours of observation, and 3 hours of behind-the-wheel driving. Students MUST be able to attend all classes per session. There is no availability for make-up classes. Students who do not complete all required hours will not receive certification; also note that there is no refund for failure to receive certification. It is strongly recommended that students obtain their Missouri driving permit prior to the start of class.

Fundamentals of Whitewater Kayaking | $100

The Missouri Whitewater Association is teaming up with Community Enrichment to provide kayak classes in the Mehlville pool. Instructors will help build your fundamental whitewater kayaking skills, such as strokes, braces and the components of the roll.
Registration is open for the first fall session, which begins September 11 from 5-8 p.m.

Kayaks, paddles and skirts are available for students over the age of 15. You are also welcome to bring your own gear. If a student is under the age of 15, a registered adult must accompany the child. *WE DO NOT HAVE GEAR FOR KIDS UNDER 15.

This class is for adults who would like a great workout with low stress on the body in the shallow end of the pool. Classes run Mondays and/or Wednesdays in the evening.

Jump in the shallow end and dance the night away! This is a high-energy dance workout in the pool. Classes are held on Mondays in September, October and November. Adults and children (ages 12 and over) are welcome if they are 4' or taller and can stand in the shallow end without assistance. Registration is open now.
