Open job interviewsMehlville School District has a critical need to fill many support staff openings to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year. We are hosting open interviews for bus drivers, school food technicians, custodians, cafeteria recess monitors and substitute teachers on July 28, 2022, from 1-4 p.m. at our Central Office (3120 Lemay Ferry Road).

At the open interviews, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with the directors from each department, learn about positions and benefits, receive assistance completing your application and even interview for a  job on-site. The Mehlville Board of Education recently approved starting pay increases for each of the support staff positions, and those with relevant experience can start at a higher hourly rate.

Bus Drivers
We currently have 15 openings for bus drivers. The starting pay for bus drivers was recently increased to $17/hour. Those with relevant experience can start at a higher hourly rate. This full-time position offers a retirement pension plan; health, vision, dental and life insurance; and paid time off. Our staff offers paid training to help you obtain necessary licenses and certifications.

Cafeteria Recess Monitors
We currently have 6 openings for cafeteria recess monitors. The starting pay for cafeteria recess monitors was recently increased to $13.85/hour. This position is tasked with supervising students in the cafeteria during lunch and on the playground during recess. This position is part-time. 
Cafeteria recess monitor
Custodians
We currently have 17 openings for custodians. The starting pay for custodians was recently increased to $14/hour. Those with relevant experience can start at a higher hourly rate. This full-time position offers a retirement pension plan; health, vision, dental and life insurance; and paid time off. This position is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness of our facilities and the safety of our students and staff throughout the day.
Custodian
We’re currently hiring 2nd shift (evening) custodians. These shifts typically run for 2:45-10:45 p.m.

School Food Technicians
We have 13 current openings for school food technicians. The starting pay for school food technicians was recently increased to $13.85/hour. This part-time position is tasked with preparing breakfast and lunch for our students and assisting with serving food during lunchtime. School Food Technicians
While we are currently hiring for part-time positions, there are opportunities for advancement into a full-time role for those that are interested.

Substitute Teachers
Like many other school districts across the country, we face a shortage of substitute teachers. The current pay rate for substitute teachers is $115/day. We’re hoping to add to our substitute teacher pool to cover as many teacher absences as possible throughout the school year to avoid covering classes with other teachers during their plan time. Our staff will assist with training for those interested in becoming a substitute teacher.
