Mehlville School District has several systems and procedures in place to make our schools as safe as possible, to reduce the likelihood of an emergency, and to respond to emergencies should they arise.
Schools are among the safest places to be due to the strong commitment of educators and staff, families and our community. Mehlville School District is committed to being proactive rather than reactive. As always, we encourage members of our community to follow this simple rule: If you see something, say something. Safety concerns can be reported at any time using these resources.
Each of our schools have emergency/crisis plans that are reviewed and updated annually by school staff in conjunction with the St. Louis County Police and Mehlville Fire Protection District. Our teachers and support staff are trained on our emergency response plans, and we conduct drills to familiarize students with procedures. Plans include, but are not limited to fire, accidents and medical situations, tornadoes and other severe weather, intruders, hostage situations and earthquakes. Additionally, Mehlville School District has behavioral risk assessment teams that work to identify and address threatening behavior.
In the case of an emergency, parents will be notified via email and text message through ParentSquare. In the event of an early dismissal or school cancellation, parents will also receive a phone call through ParentSquare.
You can help us by making sure you always have accurate and working phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contacts in our student information system. If you haven’t done so already, please log into the Parent Portal, and complete the Online Family Update. In this update, you will be prompted to verify or change your contact information and your emergency contacts’ information. If you need assistance updating your contact information, please call your child’s school or call 314-467-5000.
Mehlville School District has adopted the “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol. Students and staff regularly train and practice the response protocols and will continue to do so throughout the year.

Thank you for your support as we work together to keep our schools safe for students, staff and the community.
