Forder Elementary School teacher Amanda WyattAmanda Wyatt, English Learner (EL) teacher at Forder Elementary School, has been named one of ten honorees for Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year for the St. Louis region. The distinction means she is now eligible to submit an application for Missouri State Teacher of the Year.

In her role as an EL specialist, Wyatt works with students whose first language is something other than English. When students were learning virtually during the pandemic, she played a vital role in keeping families who speak other languages informed about what was going on. Students at Forder Elementary speak 17 different languages.

“I’m both humbled and honored to be selected as one of the St. Louis region’s teachers of the year,” said Wyatt. “I am excited to have the opportunity to represent my Forder family and the Mehlville School District.”

Wyatt has worked at Forder Elementary since 2012. Prior to her current role, she served as a kindergarten and fourth grade teacher. She has developed a reputation for creating an inclusive environment that celebrates Forder Elementary’s diverse multicultural population.

“We’re proud to see Ms. Wyatt recognized as a regional teacher of the year,” said Dr. Jeff Bresler, assistant superintendent - supervision of schools. “She is unquestionably an expert in her content area and goes above and beyond to provide an inclusive learning environment for all students.”

Wyatt will be recognized at a ceremony later this month. Wyatt was named both the Forder Elementary School and Mehlville School District Teacher of the Year earlier this spring.

The Mehlville School District strictly prohibits discrimination and harassment against employees, students or others on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, or sex including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity and other characteristics protected by law.
