We are pleased to announce that the Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Shannon Pike as the Executive Director of Human Resources and Brian Metteer as Assistant Principal at Mehlville High School.

Dr. Shannon Pike, Executive Director of Human Resources
Shannon PikeDr. Pike is an experienced and energetic administrator, collaborator and mentor," said Dr. Chris Gaines, Superintendent. "Her drive and understanding of school operations will help her take on the challenges of recruiting, hiring and retaining a high-performing staff to serve the students of Mehlville School District."

Dr. Pike has more than 19 years of educational experience, all at Mehlville School District. She is currently the principal of Point Elementary School, where she has served for seven years. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Mehlville High School, and a social studies teacher. She co-created the district’s Leadership Development Program which has helped numerous teachers and support staff advance their careers. Dr. Pike has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Webster University. She has a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.

"I can’t wait to get started in this new role," Dr. Pike said. "My goal is to offer the very best for our children and the Mehlville School District community. I'm looking forward to recruiting top-notch staff who believe in our mission to teach and support our students. I'm also looking forward to supporting our district, school and department leaders to ensure all of our employees have access to the resources they need to do their jobs well."

Dr. Pike begins her new role on July 1, 2022. She replaces Jennifer Hansen, who accepted a position at another area school district.

Mehlville School District is immediately beginning a thorough search for the next principal of Point Elementary School. We are confident that we will have a highly qualified principal to support the ongoing success of Point Elementary School named prior to the start of the school year.

Brian Metteer, Mehlville High School Assistant Principal
Brian Metteer"We are excited to have Brian join our team at Mehlville High School," said Dr. Jason Landherr, Principal of Mehlville High School. "He brings a lot of creativity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to support our students and staff."

Metteer has taught language arts at Seckman High School for the past 11 years. During that time, he's been on his school's leadership team, and has grown communities as a club sponsor and coach. Metteer earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri Baptist University. He has a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University, and he's currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.

"I would like to thank the staff for giving me the opportunity to join the Mehlville High School family," Metteer said. "I am eager to get to know the students, staff and parents in the district, and I look forward to working with the administrative team to serve this community. Along with my wife, Katie, and my daughter, Saylor, we have lived in the Mehlville School District the past seven years. We are excited to continue making memories here, and we are truly honored to call ourselves Panthers!"
