How to connect with the Mehlville Board of Education

The Mehlville Board of Education are elected officials who are responsible for setting policy governing Mehlville School District operations, overseeing district finances, appointing the district’s superintendent, and providing direction for the district. The Board of Education welcomes public comments and feedback from constituents. There are a variety of ways to communicate with board members.

Provide public comment at a Board of Education Meeting
Any Mehlville School District resident who would like to address the Board on a matter that affects the district has the opportunity to speak during the Open Comments period at any school board meeting.

The first comment period is at the beginning of the meeting and is limited to issues that are on that night's school board meeting agenda. The second comment period is near the end of the meeting and can focus on any district issue or concern. The board is not able to respond during the meeting to any comments made.

Unless otherwise noted, to speak during open comments, residents must sign up in person immediately prior to the meeting. Sign up sheets are available near the meeting entrance during the half-hour preceding the meeting. For example, if the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., sign up sheets are available from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Be prepared to provide your name, address and topic of the comments to be made. Three minutes will be allotted per person. When a group wishes to address the board, the group must pick a spokesperson, and that individual will have five minutes to speak for the entire group.

If you have questions about making an open comment, please contact Susan Hampel at 314-467-5002 or [email protected].
