Board approves hiring of three new administrators

The Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of three administrators for the 2022-2023 school year:

Tiffany Schwaegel, Director of Mehlville Early Childhood
Becky Bruning, Assistant Principal at Oakville High School
Dana Skrabacz, Assistant Principal at Oakville High School

Tiffany Schwaegel, Director of Mehlville Early Childhood

Schwaegel“Mrs. Schwaegel leads with integrity, humility and grace,” said Dr. Jeff Bresler, Assistant Superintendent, Supervision of Schools. “She’s a passionate leader who believes in the power of relationships and unity. She is an active listener, a skilled facilitator, and always a student advocate. She has earned the respect of many through her leadership experience in Mehlville, and we are honored for her return in this new role.”

Schwaegel has worked for Special School District for the past 12 years. She is currently assistant principal of Neuwoehner High School. Prior to that, she was a Special School District area coordinator for Mehlville School District for six years. As area coordinator, she supervised special education teachers and support staff, and worked closely with early childhood staff to help students transition into elementary school. She has five years of teaching experience with Special School District. Schwaegel earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University. She has a Master’s in School Administration from Lindenwood University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Lindenwood University.

“I am very excited to meet and collaborate with the Mehlville Early Childhood staff, families and students,” Schwaegel said. “Building strong relationships is a priority of mine, and I’m looking forward to helping our district’s young children learn, grow and develop.”

Schwaegel will begin serving as director of Mehlville Early Childhood on July 1, 2022. She’s replacing Dr. Ann Westbrook who has accepted a new position in St. Charles City School District as director of early childhood education.  


Becky Bruning, Assistant Principal, Oakville High School

BruningBruning is currently an English and leadership teacher at Oakville High School. She is also the English Department Chair, and the Varsity Cheer Coach. Prior to Oakville High School, Bruning taught English language arts at Buerkle Middle School and she taught at Palmyra High School. Bruning earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Truman State University. She has an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Missouri Baptist University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.

“Mrs. Bruning has a strong history at Oakville High School,” said Brian Brennan, Oakville High school principal. “She has institutional knowledge of our school, is a strong instructional leader. She will use her leadership skills to a greater extent in this new role to continue moving Oakville High School in a positive and proud direction.”

“I am truly honored and incredibly excited to continue supporting the Oakville community as an assistant principal next school year,” Bruning said. “Oakville is my home away from home and I am so proud of the work our students and teachers do every day. I look forward to working with students, families, staff and the entire community in this new role to continue to make each day a great day to be an Oakville Tiger.”

Dana Skrabacz, Assistant Principal, Oakville High School

Skrabacz“We are excited to welcome Ms. Skrabacz to Oakville High School,” Brennan said. “She brings a ton of excitement and energy to OHS. Her instructional leadership experience at Hancock Place High School will be an asset to our teachers and our students.”

Skrabacz is currently a social studies teacher and department chair at Hancock Place High School. She has taught at Hancock Place High School for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she taught high school social studies at Cape Girardeau Public School District. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also has a Master of Arts in Secondary School Administration.

“I am so excited to become an Oakville Tiger! It is an honor to join the administrative team at Oakville High School, where I’ll share my passion for leading a learning environment dedicated to helping all students discover their unique value within the school community,” Skrabacz said. “I look forward to building relationships with the wonderful staff, students and families of this vibrant community.”

Bruning and Skrabacz will begin serving as assistant principals of Oakville High School on July 1, 2022. They replace Jason Buatte, who accepted a new position as assistant principal at Oakville Middle School, and Brian Brennan, who was promoted to principal of Oakville High School.
