Board approves the hiring of two assistant principals

The Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of two assistant principals for the 2023-2024 school year:
- Matt Gaglio, Assistant Principal, Oakville High School
- Jennifer Rich, Traveling Elementary Assistant Principal
Matt Gaglio, Assistant Principal, Oakville High School
Gaglio is a principal intern in Kirkwood School District and has taught middle school social studies at Nipher Middle School for more than ten years. He’s also taught in Little Rock, Arkansas. Gaglio has served as a varsity baseball coach and a department chair. He has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hendrix College, a Master of Arts in Education from Harding University, a Specialist in Educational Administrative Leadership from Lindenwood University. He is pursuing a Doctorate in Administrative Leadership from Lindenwood.
“Matt wowed everyone on our interview team,” said Brian Brennan, Oakville High School principal. “We are very excited to have Matt join the Oakville High School family. He will bring a great perspective and positive energy to our administrative team and our entire school community.”
“I am so proud to be an Oakville Tiger!” Gaglio said. “Oakville High School is a place that provides a multitude of opportunities for student growth and positive experiences. I’m excited to build new relationships with students, staff, parents, and grow in the OHS community.”
Gaglio will begin serving as assistant principal on July 1, 2023.
Jennifer Rich, Assistant Principal, Elementary
Rich is an English Language Arts teacher at Oakville Middle School. She has taught in the district for 18 years and she’s chaired numerous committees and the ELA department at Oakville Middle. Rich has served as a substitute principal, and she received the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award in 2022. She has a Bachelor of Science in English and a Master of Arts in Education from Truman State University, and she has earned an Educational Specialist in Administration from Lindenwood University.
“Jennifer Rich has emerged as a leader in multiple schools that span multiple grade levels,” said Dr. Chad Dickemper, executive director of planning and operations. “Her passion for elementary students, her instructional knowledge and history of mentoring colleagues, and her ability to form meaningful relationships promise to benefit everyone she serves in the role of traveling assistant principal.”
“Joining the administrative team in two of our elementary schools in Mehlville is a dream come true,” Rich said. “I am looking forward to meeting the students, staff and families at these schools and supporting them in any way that I can. I’m excited to work collaboratively to help our students academically, socially and emotionally. I can’t wait to get started!”
Rich will begin serving as assistant principal on July 1, 2023. Her elementary school assignments will be determined this summer based on student enrollment.
