The Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation (VICC) was established to assist in the transfer of African-American students residing in the city to participating school districts in St. Louis County. VICC’s functions include recruiting, counseling and transportation. A full time staff handles applications and placements. The VICC staff also includes five full-time counselors/social workers who assist families with a variety of issues related to the successful transfer of their children. The transportation staff works with bus/cab contractors to coordinate safe and efficient transportation to and from school.
VICC regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For transportation related issues, extended hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the school year, and from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during summer.
Parents are encouraged to visit the VICC office in person at any time.
