The next event in the Portrait of a Graduate Speaker Series is a presentation from The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide. The non-profit community organization will present “Raising Resilient Teens in Challenging Times” via Zoom on Wednesday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m.

Mehlville School District added new clubs at the elementary and high school levels this school year to focus on students’ social-emotional well-being and build a sense of community inside of our schools. The new clubs are being funded using federal COVID-19 relief funds.

On April 5, Mehlville School District voters will be asked to select two Board of Education directors for three-year terms. Three people have filed candidacy.

The Mehlville School District is hosting a Board Listening Session on Tuesday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m., at Oakville Middle School. Families, staff and community members are invited to attend this meeting.

Jason Buatte will serve as the assistant principal of Oakville Middle School beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. The Mehlville School District Board of Education unanimously voted to approve his hiring at its Feb. 3, 2022, meeting.

Mehlville School District is proud to present the third Portrait of a Graduate Speaker Series, a special screening of Delivering Hope on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Nottelmann Auditorium, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road.

Online registration for students entering kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year opens the week of Feb. 21. Families of children who turn 5 before Aug. 1, 2022, may register for kindergarten.

Mehlville School District was named a top 5 district for most St. Louis Community College students. Currently, 48 Mehlville High School and Oakville High School students are enrolled in dual enrollment courses.

MOSAIC Elementary School is hosting a virtual Kindergarten Information Night on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at 6 p.m. for families enrolling in kindergarten in Mehlville School District for the 2022-2023 school year.

Four Mehlville School District citizens have filed their candidacy for two positions on the Mehlville Board of Education: Benjamin (Ben) Droney, Scott Huegerich, Steven M. Trapp and Sarah (Grace) Wright.

In addition to learning core subjects, Mehlville School District elementary school students are learning about their emotions and how to manage their reactions to different situations through the Zones of Regulation.

Upon review of Mehlville School District’s finances for the 2021 fiscal year, auditors from Daniel Jones and Associates issued the district’s accounting practices its highest marks, an unmodified opinion, or clean audit.

Multilingual families of incoming kindergarten students (2022-2023 school year) are invited to a special parent night on March 29 to learn about district programs and services.

The new immersion room opened at Mehlville High School this school year allows students to choose how they learn foreign languages by presenting them with unique, hands-on learning opportunities.

Any person wishing to file for the Mehlville School District Board of Education may do so in the Mehlville School District Administration Building, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. Filing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, through Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021.

Oakville High School aerospace engineering students took to the skies after designing and building gliders. Aerospace engineering is a Project Lead the Way course offered at Mehlville High School and Oakville High School.

Four district schools were recognized for student growth in mathematics and English language arts in a recent report released by the St. Louis University PRiME Center: MOSAIC Elementary, Point Elementary, Bernard Middle and Washington Middle.

This school year, Mehlville School District will use up to four traditional snow days for inclement weather. Should the district need to close on additional days due to weather, students will have virtual instruction days.

Mehlville School District is hosting its second Portrait of a Graduate Speaker Series in November. The event, titled “Persistence During the Pandemic,” features Dr. Bryan Pearlman, educator and mental health therapist, and a panel of mental health experts. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend the free event at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Oakville Middle School, 5950 Telegraph Road.

Students in the new Adventure and Outdoor Pursuits class at Mehlville High School have already had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: canoeing on the Mississippi River. In addition to kayaking, students are going to learn and practice other outdoor activities like fishing, archery, rock climbing and hiking.

We are proud to announce that Mehlville School District was selected to join the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools, a coalition of forward-thinking schools across the country who are providing students with unique learning opportunities.

Mehlville School District added two new interventionists at each school for the 2021-2022 school year to ensure better support for our students. These positions are being paid for by federal COVID-19 relief funds.

The Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the 2021 blended tax rate of $3.6598 at its annual tax rate hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021. The blended rate is about 14 cents less than the previous year of $3.8056.

During his annual State of the District address on Sept. 14, Superintendent Dr. Chris Gaines spoke on three important issues for Mehlville School District: enrollment figures, the new strategic plan and Prop S facility improvements.

The Alumni Hall of Fame Selection Committee has selected the five inductees for the 2021 Mehlville School District Alumni Hall of Fame.

Maintenance and construction crews worked hard this summer to upgrade and make repairs at schools across Mehlville School District, including the first projects funded following voter approval of Prop S.

The Geometry in Construction course provides students with opportunities for real-world application of geometry principles. In addition to learning mathematics, students also gain hands-on understanding of construction methods, construction safety and tools.

The Mehlville School District Board of Education unanimously approved the budget for the 2021-2022 school year (FY22) at its June 24 meeting. The FY22 budget of $129.3 million includes a projected operating loss of $2.3 million.

Amanda Wyatt, English Learner (EL) teacher at Forder Elementary School, has been named one of ten honorees for Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year for the St. Louis region. The distinction means she is now eligible to submit an application for Missouri State Teacher of the Year.
