The Mehlville School District is seeking assistance from parents, students, staff and community members as it prepares its Strategic Plan for 2026-2031. You’re invited to attend five meetings this fall to provide your feedback.

About the strategic planning process

We started the strategic planning process in the spring by surveying our community. We asked: As we plan for the future, what key opportunities, resources and experiences should Mehlville School District offer to support student success? Survey results can be seen here.

The survey results were reviewed at the first meeting of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee in April. The group of more than 100 students, staff, families and community members identified five potential themes, or areas of focus, for the 2026-2031 Strategic Plan:

  • Academics
  • Student Support
  • Employee Quality and Staffing
  • Facilities, Operations and Finance
  • Community Involvement

Over the summer, Mehlville School District leaders developed a rough draft of the Strategic Plan, featuring strategies and outcomes for each of these themes. These drafts are rooted in the feedback received so far.

What’s next?

The Strategic Plan Steering Committee will meet five times this fall to discuss each theme. They’ll take a deeper look at these areas of focus and gather feedback on the draft strategic plan goals. You’re invited to join us at Bernard Middle School (1054 Forder Road) at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Theme: Academics
  • Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Theme: Student Support
  • Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Theme: Employee Quality and Staffing
  • Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Theme: Facilities, Operations and Finance
  • Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Theme: Community Involvement

While all students, families, staff and community members are invited to attend all meetings, you can also just attend meetings with themes that are of interest to you. Attending the first meeting of the committee in April is not a requirement to participate. Please use this form to receive important updates about the committee’s work and to receive meeting reminders.

Following these meetings, the Strategic Plan will be revised based on our community’s feedback and presented to the Mehlville Board of Education in December. Board of Education approval of the Strategic Plan will be requested at its March meeting.

About school district strategic plans

The development of the district strategic plan (also known as the Continuous School Improvement Plan or CSIP) is required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

A strategic plan is critical for a school district because it provides a clear vision and roadmap for achieving long-term goals. It aligns stakeholders — students, staff, families, and the community — around shared priorities, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to enhance student outcomes.

By setting measurable objectives and regularly reviewing progress, a strategic plan fosters accountability and adaptability, enabling the district to respond proactively to changes in education, funding  and community needs.

Together, we will shape a bright future for our district.
