Superintendent's Note: May 2026

This is an amazing time to be part of the Mehlville School District. The community, staff and Board of Education just created our Strategic Plan for the next five years, and the Facilities Steering Committee has provided guidance and a vision for the future of our schools, facilities and grounds.
While it’s critical that we plan for the future, it’s also important that we honor and appreciate the incredible work our staff and students do each day. Here are just a few notable moments that have occurred recently.
Oakville High School hosted a Special Olympics basketball tournament on February 19. The participating athletes and the 200 high school students who volunteered their time were supportive, caring and full of good sportsmanship. Athletes had numerous opportunities to showcase their skills and make new friends. The Special Olympics is a joyful event for both the athletes, volunteers and our staff. We are looking forward to Mehlville High School’s opportunity to host Special Olympics Track and Field in April.
School spirit is alive and well in our schools! Mehlville High School recently held one of the best school pep assemblies I have seen in a long time. The assembly consisted of cheers, dancing, competitions and games. The entire student body also recognized state champion Lily Kohler. Lily won the state swimming championship for the 100-yard breaststroke. I could not be more proud of Lily or more proud of the student body for the heartfelt ovation they gave her. Our students are what makes this district amazing.
The district hosted a middle school volleyball tournament extravaganza. The Oakville High School gymnasiums were packed with sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students, volunteers and parents. The atmosphere was electric. It was great to watch teammates from different grades cheer each other on.
Our band, choir, drama and performance groups consist of talented students, and professional and dedicated staff. Opportunities provided by our staff provide students with a strong connection to school that students carry with them through graduation. The Elementary Honor Choir concert was an unbelievable event. Our middle school choir directors put on an amazing show with our fifth-grade choir students. And when we talk about building community, three Oakville High School choirs made a guest appearance to kick off the night. Our staff routinely take time outside of school hours to provide opportunities for students.
The Mehlville High School winter band concert was as moving as it always is. The evening started with several songs from the jazz band, which were high tempo and high energy. The larger band followed with several incredible pieces.
Our teachers, coaches, directors and support staff are so skilled and so giving of their time for our students. There is no doubt why our students are able to accomplish what they do.
I really need to thank the community for our students’ accomplishments as well. Through the unbelievable community support, we are able to attract and retain top-notch employees that have such a positive impact on our students. Thank you as always for your support of the Mehlville School District, and have a wonderful spring!
