New Director of Data and Assessment to start July 1

Dr. Lauren Cumming

The Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of a Director of Data and Assessment for Mehlville School District. Starting July 1, Dr. Lauren Cumming will serve in this new role.

“This position will continue to build on the instructional focus of our district in the use of Professional Learning Communities,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools. “Much of the growth in student achievement that we’ve seen over the past two years is the result of this work – particularly in our efficient and consistent use of data at the school and classroom level."

“Dr. Cumming brings both an in-depth knowledge of academic data and experience in instructional leadership to this position,” Dr. Haug said. “We are excited for her to use her talents in this role and to support our principals and teachers as they continue to work to improve student achievement.”

Dr. Cumming has served as Principal of Bernard Middle School for the past six years. She was the school’s Assistant Principal for the three years prior to that. Dr. Cumming has also taught middle school foreign language. She has implemented Professional Learning Communities at Bernard and excels in making data-informed decisions. She has facilitated and piloted district-wide implementation of assessment systems.

Dr. Cumming has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University. She has a Masters of Arts in Administration and a Masters of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University, and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone Studies from Illinois Wesleyan University.

“I am enthusiastic about this new opportunity to continue serving the Mehlville School District in a different capacity,” Dr. Cumming said. “As Director of Data and Assessment, I look forward to supporting all of our schools in our collective mission to enhance student achievement and well-being.”
