Mehlville Board of Education approves 2025 tax rates
At its annual Tax Rate Hearing on September 25, 2025, the Mehlville Board of Education approved the 2025 tax rates.
The 2025 blended tax rate will be $3.7016. The blended rate is a weighted average of the following four tax levy rates for 2025:
- Residential – $3.4611
- Commercial – $3.8736
- Agricultural – $4.2531
- Personal Property – $4.8161
The Mehlville School District is estimated to receive $103.6 million in local tax revenue based on the approved tax rates. This is $2 million more than originally budgeted. These funds will be applied to capital allocations and won’t impact the operating budget, which is break-even for the 2025-2026 school year.
Assessed values of property located within Mehlville School District increased 12.1 percent overall. However, according to Missouri law, tax revenues may not increase more than the consumer price index, which was 2.9 percent. As a result, the blended tax rate for 2025 dropped to $3.7016, compared to $4.0070 in 2024.
Tax rates are computed each year based on the state auditor tax schedules and assessed values as provided by St. Louis County Revenue. The county assesses real estate values every two years. This year (2025) is a reassessment year.
The Mehlville School District is maintaining its reputation as a fiscally conservative district. As of the fall of 2024, the Mehlville School District had the 17th lowest tax rate of 22 St. Louis County school districts. The district ranks last in the county in outstanding debt expense per student.
