Board approves the hiring of two assistant principals
The Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of two assistant principals for the 2025-2026 school year at its May 22 meeting.
- Dr. Shelly Woodworth, Assistant Principal at Blades Elementary School and Hagemann Elementary School
- Tracy Lee, Assistant Principal at Bernard Middle School

Assistant Principal, Blades Elementary School and Hagemann Elementary School
Dr. Shelly Woodworth has served as a reading intervention teacher at Ellisville Elementary School in the Rockwood School District since 2012. She has previous experience as a first-grade teacher, third-grade teacher and fifth-grade teacher.
“Dr. Woodworth has a tremendous background. She not only brings strong reading and teaching strategies with her to the Mehlville School District, but also a deep understanding of efficient educational systems,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Woodworth has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University. She also has a Master of Arts in Reading from Webster University, a Master of Science in Counselor Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri.
“I’m excited to begin my new role as Assistant Principal at Blades and Hagemann Elementary Schools,” Dr. Woodworth said. “Stepping into this position gives me the opportunity to support the incredible students, families and staff of the Mehlville School District. I look forward to building strong relationships and partnering with everyone to cultivate a school community where every child feels valued, inspired to learn and prepared to embrace their future confidently.”
Dr. Woodworth will begin serving as assistant principal on July 1, 2025. She replaces Dr. Samantha Gatzemeyer who will serve as Principal of Hagemann Elementary School next school year.
Tracy Lee
Assistant Principal, Bernard Middle School
Tracy Lee has served as a reading specialist at Hixson Middle School in the Webster Groves School District since 2019. Lee also served as a Summer School Co-Principal for the last two summers. She previously worked as an academic instructional coach and English language arts teacher in Saint Louis Public Schools.
“Ms. Lee brings a wealth of instructional and leadership experience with her to Bernard Middle School,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools. “Her passion for providing the best educational opportunities to help every student be successful was evident during the interview process.”
Lee has an Education Specialist in Education Administration and a Masters of Education in Education Administration from the University of Missouri. She previously earned a Master of Arts in Reading and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Missouri.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to join the Mehlville School District and Bernard Middle School community,” Lee said. “I look forward to working alongside dedicated teachers, empowering students and helping to foster an inclusive and positive learning environment. I’m also eager to build strong partnerships with families, staff and the broader community to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.”
