Board of Education approves the hiring of three administrators

At its April 9 meeting, the Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of the following new administrators:

• Julie Dooley, Principal of Wohlwend Elementary School
• Ashleigh Hussey, Parents as Teachers and Mehlville Early Childhood Coordinator
• Anna McGuire, Assistant Principal of Mehlville High School

Julie Dooley
Principal, Wohlwend Elementary School

Julie Dooley currently serves as the interim principal at Forder Elementary School. Prior to supporting Forder Elementary School, Dooley was the assistant principal at Bierbaum Elementary School. She has 15 years of elementary teaching experience at Hagemann Elementary School.

“Mrs. Dooley is an incredible instructional leader,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools. “That strength, paired with her family-focused leadership, will make her a dynamic leader at Wohlwend Elementary School.”

Dooley has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. She has a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University and a Master of Science in Teacher Leadership from Southwest Baptist University.

“I am incredibly honored to continue my 15-year commitment to the Mehlville School District as the principal of Wohlwend Elementary,” Dooley said. “I look forward to being a visible and active partner to our dedicated staff, students and families. Together, we will foster a supportive community where every learner feels empowered to achieve their full potential.”

Dooley will begin serving in her new role on July 1, 2026. She replaces Dr. Dave Meschke, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Ashleigh Hussey
Coordinator of Parents as Teachers and Mehlville Early Childhood

Ashleigh Hussey currently serves as a parent educator for Mehlville Parents as Teachers. Hussey has 13 years of experience between her role as a parent educator and previously as a teacher at Premier Charter School.

“Mrs. Hussey is committed to supporting families of young children and is passionate about whole-child development,” said Dr. Haug. “She is a relationship-centered leader who brings innovation, compassion and commitment to ensure that every child, family and educator feels seen, supported and included.”

Hussey earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. She also has a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Missouri in St. Louis.

“I’ve spent the past four years as a parent educator and have truly loved every second of it,” Hussey said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to step into the Parents as Teachers and early childhood coordinator role and be part of these programs in an even larger capacity. Strong early childhood programs set the foundation for student success and create a lasting positive impact on the entire community. I’m looking forward to expanding partnerships in Mehlville with families, educators and the community to support the development of our youngest learners.” 

Hussey will begin serving in her new role on July 1, 2026. She replaces Erin Amador, who will serve as Director of Early Childhood starting July 1. 

Anna McGuire
Assistant Principal of Mehlville High School

Anna McGuire currently serves as instructional innovation and data privacy specialist for Mehlville School District. Prior to starting this role in 2020, she was a second-grade teacher for three years at MOSAIC Elementary and five years at Wohlwend Elementary.  
 
“Ms. McGuire is going to be a great addition to the Mehlville High School administrative team,” said Dr.  Haug said. “Her background in instructional coaching and leadership in innovation and technology will be an asset to MHS.”

McGuire has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a Master of Arts in School Administration from Lindenwood University.

“Returning to Mehlville High School is a true homecoming for me,” McGuire said. “As a proud graduate, I am honored to serve the Panther community again as assistant principal. I am deeply committed to ensuring every student has what they need to thrive and be successful. I look forward to supporting our teachers as they create engaging, real-world learning environments that inspire our students.” 

McGuire will begin serving in her new role on July 1, 2026. She replaces Abby Makowsky, who will serve as Mehlville High School Principal starting July 1.
