Board of Education approves the hiring of Oakville Middle School Assistant Principal

The Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of Abby Riess as the Assistant Principal of Oakville Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year.

Riess has served as a social studies and Academy teacher at Washington Middle School for the past four years. Previously, she taught middle school social studies in Glenpool, Oklahoma, and high school social studies in Lafayette, Louisiana.

“Mrs. Riess has been an amazing leader in the classroom,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools. “She brings a strong instructional background and a passion for student academic success that will make her a great leader at Oakville Middle School.” 

Riess has a Master of Education in Administration, Curriculum Leadership and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.

“I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Oakville Middle School. I look forward to partnering with the dedicated staff, supportive parents and exceptional students to uphold the school’s tradition of excellence and its strong commitment to community,” Riess said. “Together, we will prepare students for high school and beyond by fostering a love of learning, building meaningful relationships, and celebrating each individual’s potential. I am excited to contribute to Oakville Middle School's continued success as a place where all learners thrive.”

Riess will begin serving as assistant principal on July 1, 2025. She replaces Dr. Jason Buatte who will serve as Principal of Bernard Middle School next school year.
