Board of Education approves the hiring of Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
At its January 15, 2026, meeting, the Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Tiffany Schwaegel as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for the Mehlville School District for the 2026-2027 school year.

Dr. Schwaegel has served as the Director of Mehlville Early Childhood since 2022. She previously worked for the Special School District of St. Louis County for 12 years, serving as an assistant principal, a special education area coordinator for the Mehlville School District, and a special education teacher.
“Dr. Schwaegel is a proven leader with an exceptional background in special education and the many other facets she will be responsible for in this new role,” said Dr. Jeff Haug, Superintendent of Schools. “With her strong work ethic, relationship-building and educational background, I have no doubt Dr. Schwaegel will be successful in her new role.”
Dr. Schwaegel has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master’s in School Administration and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Lindenwood University, and a Doctor of Education from Missouri Baptist University.
“I am excited to transition into the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services role because I am passionate about supporting all students across the district and broadening my impact,” Dr. Schwaegel said. “My experience as an early childhood director, an assistant principal at the high school level, and a special education coordinator has given me a comprehensive understanding of how systems and services align from early childhood, through middle school, and into high school. I am committed to using this districtwide perspective to continue moving the district in a positive direction, by supporting building leaders, and ensuring every student has access to the support they need to be successful.”
Dr. Schwaegel will start serving in this new role on July 1, 2026. She replaces Mr. Adam Smith, who is retiring at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
