Community support for families impacted by the federal government shutdown

The federal government shutdown is impacting district families in a variety of ways. We have compiled several resources for families affected by the shutdown.

Free and reduced price meals at school
If your family has experienced a drop in pay due to the government shutdown (or any other reason!), you may now qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Get started by filling out an application on our website or calling 314-467-5250 if you have questions.

Stay up-to-date on the Missouri Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The latest information on SNAP payments is available on the Department of Social Services website. This website also contains links to community resources to support families.

Find food at local food pantries
Operation Food Search connects families with local food pantries on the Find Food section of their website. A few food banks in or near Mehlville School District include:

Additional food pantries and other support resources can be found through findhelp.org.

Take advantage of library meals
After-school meals for kids ages 5-18 are available at the Weber Road Branch of St. Louis County Library (4444 Weber Road, St. Louis, MO 63123) from 2:45-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals must be eaten on-site. Learn more.

Are you in a position to help your neighbors?
The Mehlville School District community has a strong history of supporting each other. All of our area food pantries are accepting donations and would welcome your support. You can use the food pantry links above to make a donation.
