Capital Projects
The Mehlville School District Facilities Steering Committee held a series of meetings during the 2025-2026 school year to review completed facility projects and identify future improvements to best support students.
More than 80 people participated in the committee, and hundreds more provided feedback through a survey. Participants toured several schools, learned about recently completed projects and provided recommendations that have informed the development of a capital facilities plan for the next 3-5 years.
The committee has recommended the following facility improvements:
- Site improvements to parking lots
- Accessibility and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Safety and security: This includes improved fencing, interior and exterior doors and lighting
- Improved instructional spaces: This includes appropriate space for all educational content areas and upgrades to science labs, family and consumer science classrooms, libraries and performing arts facilities
- Restroom modernization
- Co-curricular facilities, including:
- a performing arts facility at Oakville High School
- high school stadium and field upgrades
- middle school fields and gymnasium upgrades
- elementary outdoor spaces and playground upgrades
- Multipurpose spaces and storm shelters
Many of these projects can be completed using the district’s capital budget. Chief Financial Officer Marshall Crutcher, CPA presented a capital plan for fiscal year 2026-2028 to the Mehlville Board of Education in February 2026.
This is an evolving plan. All projects require board approval per policy. Estimated costs will change as bids are received. Estimated capital funds available will be updated as the district has more information about actual revenue.
