Proficiency Based Assessments

Overview/Purpose:
As part of Missouri state graduation requirements, students must demonstrate proficiency on the provisions and principles of the Missouri and U.S. constitutions.

Testing Population:
High school students enrolled in Government Courses

Data Use and Dissemination:
Performance data are generally available to students upon completion of the assessment. Data are used at the district/school/classroom level to monitor and improve instructional programs.

Estimated Assessment Time Required:
One class period

Fall or Spring Semester

Overview/Purpose:
The Missouri Civics Education Initiative passed by the MO Legislature June 2016, requires any student entering 9th grade after July 1, 2017, to pass an examination on the provisions and principles of American civics.
