Candidate Filing Dates

Any person wishing to file for the Mehlville School District Board of Education may do so in the Mehlville School District Administration Building, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. Filing will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, through Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

From Tuesday, December 5, through Wednesday, December 20, filing hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The district office will be closed and no filings will be accepted December 21-25, for winter break. The final day for filing will be Tuesday, December 26, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Except for the first and last day of filing, filings will be taken by appointment only by calling 314-467-5002. No filings will be accepted when the office is closed due to inclement weather.

An election for four seats on the board will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Two seats carry a three-year term. Two seats carry a two-year term. Candidates must specify which term they are running for. 

Any person interested in serving on the Mehlville School District R-9 School Board of Education will meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be a resident taxpayer of the Mehlville School District.
  • Have resided in Missouri for a minimum of one (1) year preceding their election.
  • Be at least 24 years of age.
  • Must not be delinquent in the payment of state income taxes, personal property taxes or real property taxes on their place of residence. If an applicant is a past or present corporate officer of any fee office, that office cannot be delinquent in the payment of any taxes owed the state.
  • Have not been found guilty of nor pled guilty to a felony under the federal laws of the United States of America or to a felony under Missouri law or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in Missouri.
  • Not be registered or required to be registered as a sex offender.
  • Have filed, or the treasurer of an existing candidate committee has filed, all required campaign disclosure reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission, when applicable for all previous elections in which they were candidates.

Under the provisions of Missouri Statute Section 115.124, if the number of candidates who file is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election (four), no election will be held. However, if the number of candidates filing exceeds the number of positions, the annual school board election will be held on April 2, 2024. Per Mehlville School District Policy BBB-1, the names of qualified candidates shall be placed on the ballot in order of filing.
